Our story

Good Hair is already yours.

Our work is about helping natural hair flourish through knowledge, love, respect, and style—not changing it to fit someone else’s standard.

Our philosophy

What “Good Hair” means to us.

Good Hair is not a texture, length, or standard someone has to earn by changing who they are. It is the belief that every person’s hair is already good hair when it is treated with the love, respect, and knowledge it deserves.

Our name directly rejects the idea that beauty is tied to straighter, looser, or more socially accepted textures. We celebrate healthy, flourishing natural hair in all its forms.

Already worthy.Already beautiful.Already good.

The experience

Being cared for is part of the service.

Great care is not only about the final style. It is about being seen, listened to, and poured into from the moment you sit down.

That starts with a relaxing wash and continues through every part of the styling process with attentiveness, professionalism, and genuine pride in the craft.

The energy matters too: warmth, conversation, laughter, and a soundtrack that often lives in 90’s and 2000’s R&B and hip-hop. The goal is for you to leave looking your best and feeling refreshed, confident, and at home.

Family stewardship

A continuation of trust—not a reset.

Good Hair Salon’s next chapter was built by preserving the relationships and natural-hair knowledge that made the salon special, then strengthening the craft and infrastructure around them.

Before 2018

Trust built at the chair

Before ownership, Lemlem had already spent years at the salon as a senior stylist, earning long-standing client relationships and a reputation for natural-hair expertise.

2018

Ownership becomes stewardship

Lemlem acquired the salon and carried its culture forward. The transition preserved the community roots clients already knew while giving the family room to shape the next chapter.

Today

Craft meets infrastructure

Second-generation salon leadership, mentorship, operational systems, and continued learning support a business designed to grow without losing its identity.

The people behind Good Hair

Family, craft, and the work that keeps both strong.

Each role carries a different part of the salon forward—from the trusted relationships built at the chair to leadership, mentorship, and the systems behind the scenes.

Rooted in the Central District

A neighborhood story told through real relationships.

Good Hair Salon is more than a place to get styled. It is part of a community story built through repeat clients, shared history, honest conversation, and a sense of belonging.

That same spirit shapes our interest in mentorship, learning, and creating more pathways into natural-hair care for the next generation.
